Virginia City Camel Races

The Virginia City Camel Races is an annual event that shakes the desert dust out of everyone- and leaves them all smiling, ear to ear!

The memories and stories will be shared and embellished daily until next September;  when they’ll load back in the starting gate and make this little ghost town the most exciting spot on earth, again, if only for a fleeting moment.

Exploring Rugged Northern Corsica

Corsica is a mountainous island that seems to explode from the Mediterranean Sea, with snowcapped peaks that top out at over 9,000 feet! Its lush, fertile landscape that abounds with pulsating waterfalls and rivers.

You will find tiny villages clinging to the side of  limestone cliffs, with houses that seemed to have been carved rather than built.   A veritable chain of Medieval light towers, perched on the point of every cove, designed to warn of the arrival of adversaries.  Diminutive town centers where the men play a game of Buls from dawn to dusk.

A Journey Down the Maekok River, Northern Thailand

Nestled in steamy grass huts perched on the riverside, we awoke to a familiar sound; a rooster, bellowing out his morning tune, and waking all 60 villagers in the process.
In a heartbeat, I could hear an axe chopping down 30 foot tall bamboo trees. The hand sharpened blades cut through the reeds like butter.   Little did we know, but those bamboo trees would soon become our lifeline, as we prepared to descend the mighty Maekok River. Men took pieces from the reeds fibrous shafts, and used them to lash the bamboo poles into a 24 foot long flotation device, which would enable us to navigate white water as well.  All of our camera equipment was perched precariously on a bamboo tripod, and we did all we could to keep it high and dry.

From Russia With Luck!

It was spring of 1991, and the Republic of Georgia had just announced their secession from the Soviet Union; the first Soviet state to do so.  It was news that shook the world.    We had  been invited by a Swiss heliski company to film and ski the most exotic of spots;  the Caucasaus Mountains, which form the geographical border between Europe and Asia.

Preparing to depart the USA for the war torn Republic of Georgia, everyone in the crew was nervous; we had heard that the country was in a state of total anarchy, and that people were being shot randomly in the streets. Nothing could have prepared us for what we witnessed, it was shocking beyond belief!
